Module
Anti-Bias Family Engagement Module
July 2021 | University of Virginia
This four-lesson unit from the University of Virginia Teacher Education Program addresses ways that elementary teacher candidates can learn to address issues of bias with each other and their students. Drawing on activities that encourage personal reflection and introspection about the ways that bias exists in ourselves and our classrooms, these activities challenge participants to consider their own identities as a way of understanding difference across contexts. An Instructor’s Guide provides information on how to set norms, facilitate discussions, and navigate activities that are designed to raise challenging topics for both teacher candidates and their students.
