This webinar features an interview between Janice Case, Regional Director, West with the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) and Marjorie Wechsler, Principal Research Manager with the Learning Policy Institute (LPI), and provides an overview of LPI’s research report Developing Effective Principals: What Kind of Learning Matters? In this webinar directed toward a school district and leader audience, Wechsler shares the motivation for the research and explains that while principals are connected to school and student outcomes, not all principals have the skills to create positive results. Because effective learning, in both preparation and in-service professional development, improves principal practice, researchers at LPI explored whether principals had access to effective learning and what could be done through policy to better support these leaders. Audience members had opportunities to ask questions and work in short breakout groups to further discuss the topic of principal learning and development.
