US PREP Texas Tech College of Education Curriculum Toolkit
This toolkit from US PREP addresses the common misalignment between coursework and teacher candidate field experiences by outlining intentionally created opportunities to align coursework learnings with classroom practices. Guidelines included in the toolkit include integrating content-specific pedagogy instruction and lesson planning into coursework; modeling, labeling, and creating opportunities to practice teacher competencies aligned with teacher candidate evaluation instruments; integrating high-quality PK–12 curriculum across learning; practicing teaching in safe settings; and using data to inform coursework revision. The curriculum toolkit includes a complex discussion of how educator preparation programs can center equity as they combat barriers such as faculty members working in silos or a lack of a high-quality data collection system. Educator preparation program administrators, teacher educators, and district partners can utilize this toolkit to create coursework and clinical experiences that more clearly align.
