Unlocking Resources Through Scheduling: How Lubbock ISD Used Scheduling to Enable Instructional, Staffing, and Budget Priorities
This case study from Education Resource Strategies shows how Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) strategically leveraged scheduling to tackle academic, staffing, and budget priorities for the 2023–24 school year. Faced with challenges such as declining enrollment and financial pressures, LISD implement a new scheduling process. The outcomes were positive, including enhanced middle school academic performance, increased capacity to support students with disabilities through additional staff and professional development, and efficient allocation of resources across schools. By maintaining consistent class sizes and teacher loads, the district not only improved academic outcomes but also reallocated over $2 million to critical investments, showcasing the impact of thoughtful scheduling on addressing multifaceted educational challenges.
