Towards a National Definition of Teacher Residencies

This report from the Pathways Alliance, Prepared to Teach, and the National Center for Teacher Residencies provides a definition of teacher residencies to help clarify the field’s use of the term. The purpose of this guide is to support discussions about residency design and improvements and provide a definition that can be used to guide policies that support the high-quality teacher residencies that are needed to prepare a diverse teaching workforce. In addition to defining teacher residencies, this guide also addresses partnerships, preservice curriculum, resident experiences, and mentors.
