January 2023 | California Collaborative for Excellence in Education and California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators

This learning module and field guide from the California Collaboration for Excellence in Education and the California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators outline educational practices that exemplify an equity-focused educational leader’s engagement. The learning pathway is a self-paced course that brings together a variety of resources and media from education leaders, researchers, teachers, and families centered around providing greater access and equity for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students. The guide illuminates historical barriers to educational equity and discusses factors that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in schools. It amplifies the voices of students, parents, and educators who share insights gleaned since the onset of the pandemic and offers opportunities for school leaders to reflect on their practices through an equity lens. Additionally, the field guide provides recommendations for supporting marginalized students in their pursuit of educational equity.
