The brief outlines four foundational principles that shape the program’s design: (1) apprenticing candidates in the authentic work of literacy coaches and specialists, (2) situating candidate experiences within their local school districts, (3) engaging in research-based practice and practice-based research to inform instruction, and (4) modeling a culture of continuous improvement to refine teaching and coaching strategies. By emphasizing practical application, research integration, and district partnerships, the program equips educators with the expertise to drive meaningful literacy development and instructional leadership.
