NCSU Candidate Assessment Day: Agenda and Checklist
North Carolina State University’s Principal Preparation Program has been recognized as one of six Exemplary Educational Leadership Preparation programs in the United States by the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). This resource provides an agenda and activity checklist for a daylong performance assessment protocol for applicants to the institution's leadership program.
The document is candidate facing and includes instructions, pacing, rotations, and two role-playing scenarios as well as six additional required and two recommended activities. The role-playing scenarios simulate candidate interaction with a student as well as a lesson debrief with a teacher. Other concurrent activities include a letter writing prompt, a video response to questions, a prompt for an example of grit/growth mindset, an essay on why they want to be a principal, a personality inventory, and additional optional writing prompts.
