The Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) of the Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE) seeks to prepare and support teacher leaders in creating equitable and successful schools and classrooms. The teaching seminar courses focus on three elements of the STEP Elementary curriculum: the student teaching experience, the supervisory program, and the ‘Seminar’ sessions. The components of the Teaching Seminar serve as the glue for participants' experiences in STEP as a whole and a bridge between educational theory and clinical practice. This document is the syllabi for the seminar course, and the course includes weekly readings, discussions, and activities orchestrated in conjunction with field experiences in local public schools. EDUC246E focuses on the assessment of and for learning and teaching, EDU246G focuses on building community in schools and considering education as a leadership profession, and EDUC246H focuses on exploring the teaching profession. All Supervisors and Cooperating Teachers’ work with participants to design and support their student teaching assignment development. Course topics covered include clinical experience, leader preparation, equity, social justice, assessment, and more.
