Diversifying the Principal Pipeline Through the Cultivation of Teacher Leaders of Color

Lionel Allen and Cynthia K. Barron
May 2022 | EdPrepLab

This session focused on the work undertaken by the University of Illinois, Chicago Ed.D. program in Urban Education Leadership to diversify the principal pipeline through the development of teacher leaders of color.

The Aspire Fellowship is a 10-month program designed to support teacher leaders of color seeking to enter a principal certification program in the next 2 years. With partners, the UIC Ed.D. Program in Urban Education Leadership built the program on the shared belief that students need transformational leaders who reflect the diversity of their local communities and designed every element around the experiences of leaders of color.
