Learners of English bring to school linguistic, cultural, and historical backgrounds that need to be understood and incorporated into learning environments to best serve them. Because teachers and principals are the first and second most important factors that impact student success, the way that we prepare our educators to best serve English learners’ unique needs is fundamental to their success.
