Supporting Language and Math Toolkit

This toolkit from Development and Research in Early Math Education (DREME) outlines a collection of resources that can be used in combination to support the mathematics learning of dual language learners. Geared toward teachers and early childhood educators, this collection of resources is well suited for teacher educators as they help candidates develop as equity-minded math teachers. Resources in the collection include “Connecting Home and School Mathematics,” which explores ways to make home–school connections to enrich student learning; “Math Thinking Conservations,” which provides guidance on how to learn the most about children’s mathematical thinking; and “Children’s Words Measure Up,” a vignette featuring a conversation between two students. Though these resources are aimed at early childhood educators, math teachers and math teacher candidates at all levels may find them useful.
