June 7-9, 2021
EdPrepLab’s spring 2021 convening, “Elevating Exemplary Practice,” took place over three half-day sessions in June and featured multiple opportunities for members to engage in learning and networking with colleagues from around the country. Sessions included presentations by our current inquiry groups on pressing issues related to deeper learning and equity in educator preparation, policy-focused sessions that connect exemplary practices to policy, and presentations from new institutional members on their ongoing work.
A year of reckoning with increasingly visible and intractable racial violence coupled with the devastation wrought by COVID-19 calls us to acknowledge the wrenching pain of our past and present. Yet with the pandemic receding and a new administration advancing policies to invest in our children, EdPrepLab stands at the precipice of possibility. Through our spring 2021 convening, we seized the opportunity to elevate exemplary practices in educator preparation to advance tangible, urgently needed change in the field. Together, EdPrepLab is building a future in which every teacher and leader is equipped with the courage to dismantle systems of oppression, the knowledge to support the learning of each child, and the capacity to nurture the humanity in all people.
