UCLA Teacher Education Program Alumni and Guiding Teacher: Elementary Teaching Practice Videos

November 2023 | University of California, Los Angeles

This library of 12 videos from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) showcases best practices in pedagogical thinking in creative and varied approaches to social justice in the classroom. The purpose of these demonstrations of social justice practices is to inspire reflection and to create a space where teachers and teacher educators consider these practices in light of their own contexts and students. These best practice videos connect to UCLA’s teaching framework actualized through the IMPACT Classroom Observation Rubric (ICOR). ICOR includes four dimensions that cover content rigor, content discourse, equitable access to content, and classroom ecology. Videos include topics such as powerful words, integrated instruction, current events, cultural affirmations, vocabulary, trauma-informed practices, building community, and opportunities for student empowerment.
