State Guidance for High-Impact Tutoring

May 2021 | The Education Trust

This brief from The Education Trust, FutureEd at Georgetown University, and Education Reform Now suggests that state governments should use funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to increase high-impact tutoring. The report posits that high-impact tutoring programs show clear positive results. Students who participate in high impact tutoring  gain an additional 1-to-2 years in math, and an additional year of learning in English language arts. The brief argues that providing students with a consistent tutor for a minimum of three sessions per week during the school day in small groups will minimize achievement gaps for students with special needs and students of color.
