Social Emotional Learning and Culturally Responsive Teaching
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the Center for Reaching & Teaching the Whole Child, Children Now, and San Jose State University collaboratively hosted this webinar to address the role of social and emotional Learning (SEL) and culturally responsive teaching in the new California Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs) and teacher education programs at large. Panelists reviewed the 2016 TPE revisions, explained survey results regarding educator preparation and TPE readiness, shared San Jose State University’s story of integrating SEL and culturally responsive teaching in k–8 teacher preparation, and responded to webinar participant questions. The webinar is designed for deans, directors of teacher education, faculty, district leaders, principals, and teachers.
