The Sensory Room: Helping Students With Autism Focus and Learn

May 2017 | Edutopia

Meriden Public Schools in Connecticut has redesigned its special education services to better meet students’ needs. This Edutopia video shares the importance of having a sensory room that satisfies autistic learners’ need for movement but also serves as a space to help them prepare for learning. The school leaders note that all students in the school have access to the sensory room when they need a space to decompress. Accompanying the video are tips for creating a sensory room in your school.
