This resource is from the Corwin companion site for Identify Safe Classrooms, Grades K–5: Places to Belong and Learn by Dorothy Steele and Becki Cohn-Vargas. This tool guides teachers to reflect on strategies for incorporating cooperative learning activities into their lessons. It begins by asking teachers to reflect on their own experiences of cooperative activities, surfacing issues that they have faced as students and as professionals. It then outlines considerations that teachers can observe as they plan activities that will require students to engage in new cooperative behaviors. Through a series of reflection questions, the tool guides teachers in thinking about their students’ interests, sociocultural norms, and sense of belonging as they plan cooperative classroom activities.
