Making Space for Learning: Trauma Informed Practice in Schools
June 2010 | Australian Childhood Foundation
This resource from the Australian Childhood Foundation provides explanations of trauma and how it can impact the brain, body, memory, emotions, relationships, learning, and other behaviors. The guide includes vignettes about how trauma can manifest in different students. The second half of the resource includes specific suggestions for activities and strategies that teachers and school leaders can use to connect to and support students who have experienced trauma. The resource also includes reflection questions for educators and a graphic organizer that educators can use to assess school or classroom policies and initiatives for supporting students with trauma.
