Incorporating Substitute Teaching Into Teacher Residencies
This brief from Prepared to Teach summarizes important considerations that educator preparation programs utilizing residency models should keep in mind as they incorporate substitute teaching into their clinical teaching practices. To create optimal learning experiences for residents and PreK–12 students in partner districts, residencies should incorporate four building blocks: scaffolded roles, resident learning supports, consistent scheduling, and placement locations.
