Impacts of the Community Partnerships for Teacher Pipeline Program on Community College Students: A Quasi-Experimental Study
This report from WestEd outlines findings from an evaluation WestEd researchers conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Community Partnerships for Teacher Pipeline (CPTP) program, a program that partnered community colleges with the Center for Collaborative Education. The CPTP program was designed to address concerns about the decline in teacher preparation program enrollment, particularly given the disparity between teachers of color and K–12 students of color. Findings from the quasi-experimental evaluation, a study of three CPTP community colleges in Southern California, were relatively positive. WestEd researchers found that CPTP produced better outcomes for participating students when compared with matched comparison students enrolled in the same colleges. This resource may be helpful for teacher preparation program administrators considering the implementation of similar programs or innovative solutions to teacher supply shortages.
