December 2022 | High Tech High Graduate School of Education

This syllabus from High Tech High Graduate School of Education’s (HTH) EDU 600 course, surveys the core values of High Tech High’s MEd program, introducing foundational topics and texts. The course includes reading, discussion, observation, journaling, interviews, critical analyses, and the construction of a digital portfolio. As in all of HTH’s courses, students are expected to apply a critical, self-reflective, social justice lens scaffolded by the program outcomes: practicing thoughtful inquiry and reflection, designing equitable learning environments for deeper learning, and engaging in leadership for school change. This syllabus is an effective example of one way a teacher preparation program can incorporate deeper learning principles.
