Generative AI for Education Hub

March 2025 | Stanford University

This research study repository from the SCALE Initiative at Stanford University is a comprehensive collection of academic studies on generative AI (GenAI) in PreK–12 education in the United States, organized into three categories: descriptive (how GenAI is used and developed), impact (how well it works, including randomized control trials and quasi-experiments), and review (meta-analyses of GenAI research). It covers topics such as teaching, assessment, student support, communication, organization, and data analysis, identifying who interacts with GenAI (students, educators, parents, and leaders); the target age group; and the intended benefits (efficiency, academic outcomes, social-emotional growth, and reimagining schooling). The repository includes prepublished works but excludes journalism. It is a valuable resource for  PreK–12 leaders, policymakers, education organizations, EdTech developers, researchers, and the global education community seeking to understand and apply generative AI in education.
