This set of Stanford Teacher Education Program syllabi (Education 267A-C) are for three courses that illustrate the stages of instructional planning for science curriculum. The first course focuses on teaching teacher candidates how to understand the science content more deeply in order to present it in a way that will resonate with their students. The second course prepares teacher candidates to prepare lessons using learning segments and curricular units through utilizing an instructional cycle that involves planning, teaching, analyzing, adjusting, and reevaluating. The final course in the sequence continues the study of practice and theory by positioning teacher candidates to develop confidence as an instructor by encouraging them to work from three perspectives: their context, science practices, and the big questions of science education.
