Culturally Competent and Racially Conscious Professional Development for School Leaders: A Review of the Literature
Phase I: Exploring New Pathways to Recruit and Retain

This literature review from Teachers College Record synthesizes current research on educator professional development programs that seek to implement cultural competency and transformative learning into their pedagogical practices. The findings from this review are intended to help enable school districts and building leaders seeking to promote racial equity to provide meaningful learning opportunities to their staff. The literature review found that the best way to address cultural competency is to embed the curriculum into teacher professional development programs.
