Building Classroom Community Through Daily Dedications

Henry Seton
January 2022 | Edutopia

This Edutopia video shows a 30–60 second daily ritual that can foster a sense of belonging and strong classroom culture. The teacher chooses a student to share a person to whom they’d like to dedicate the class session. Peers learn more about each other and often gain an appreciation or express empathy by learning about someone their classmate admires or is inspired by. The page also includes a link to “A Daily Ritual That Builds Trust and Community Among Students,” an article about this activity written by a high school history teacher.
