Course Project
Autoethnography Project Description
April 2018 | University of Chicago, Urban Teacher Education Program
This University of Chicago Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP) resource describes a spring quarter final project for teacher candidates. As a culminating assessment, teacher candidates tell their story in the form of an autoethnography that demonstrates what life experiences have influenced their decision to be a teacher and who they hope to be in the world. Teacher candidates draw upon the various frameworks that they have used over the course of the program to understand identity development; the influence of systems; and the manifestations of privilege, marginalization, and dehumanization at individual and structural levels, both historically and in the present.
