Assessment of Dual Language Learners Video
June 2013 | California Safe and Supportive Schools and WestEd
This four-minute video from California Safe and Supportive Schools and WestEd supports educators in understanding how to best assess the learning of multilingual students. The purpose of assessments is to help educators understand what students know, and for multilingual students, this means considering all of the languages that students speak in order to fully assess their learning and development. Using early childhood and PreK examples, this video highlights how educators can co-create learning goals with families, use a variety of assessments, and use assessments to inform grouping and instruction for multilingual learners.
