This study describes the work of seven pioneering programs of teacher education that have organized themselves to meet the dual challenge of teacher preparation for deeper learning and equity. It  examined how teacher candidates learn to create personalized, inquiry-based learning opportunities for all children and how their programs create such opportunities for the candidates themselves. Through interviews, on-site observations, candidate surveys, and document review, the study describes the curriculum, practices, and institutional structures that make teacher preparation for deeper learning possible.
