State of the Field: Navigating New Learning Ecologies

Wednesday, October 28, 2026
2:30–5:00 p.m. ET

As educators face tremendous technological, political, and climatic change, EdPrepLab’s 2026 Virtual Forum explores the importance of centering meaningful human relationships as the enduring core of effective teaching, learning, and leading. Join us to learn how EdPrepLab-affiliated programs are supporting candidates to navigate new learning ecologies—including shifting policy contexts, the growing prominence of artificial intelligence, and the urgency of partnering with and engaging local communities. Make new connections and set a course for the year ahead at this can’t-miss event for EdPrepLab members and the wider public.

During the event, attendees will:

  • Learn from institutional leaders from the Learning Policy Institute and Bank Street College of Education as they share opening remarks about the state of our field and the transformative role EdPrepLab can play in shaping the future of education.
  • Engage with a panel of EdPrepLab-affiliated candidates and alumni about the preparation experiences that have best equipped them for the new imperatives of teaching and leading.
  • Connect with panelists and other attendees in breakout rooms to dive deeper into topics of interest and explore the science of learning and development (SoLD) as a powerful lens for transforming educator preparation.
  • Get a sneak preview of 2026–2027 EdPrepLab programming, including a new call for seed grant proposals, as well as travel support for upcoming site visits.
