Uncheatable Assessments: Designing Learning Experiences in the Age of AI Video

Michael Hernandez and Steph Argy
September 2025 | Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development + International Society for Technology in Education

This 60-minute webinar from Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development + International Society for Technology in Education explores how educators might build assessments using multimedia storytelling. As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more prevalent in schools, traditional assessments may not serve students’ learning needs and capabilities. Instead, the presenter argues that such assignments that ask students for standardized answers may invite AI-generated responses, whereas “uncheatable assessments” have originality, personal connection, and purpose. The webinar shares case studies from the presenter’s book, Storytelling With Purpose: Digital Projects to Ignite Student Curiosity, including the creation of infographics to replace lab reports, community-engaged oral history projects, and brand kits for community nonprofit organizations. The webinar offers ways in which teachers and students can use AI as a tool to support critical thinking and creativity. Educators across content areas and grade levels may find this resource useful in thinking about how to integrate AI use in the classroom.
