How Educator Prep Leaders Can Support K-12 Teacher Induction Video
This 60-minute webinar from the Southern Regional Education Board examines how education preparation programs and leaders can partner with districts to supplement induction support for teachers. The session features practitioners from three university-based induction programs: The Carolina Teacher Induction Program at the University of South Carolina, the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program at East Carolina University, and the School of Education at the University of Mississippi. Speakers discuss how preparation programs can extend support beyond initial licensure, align induction with preservice preparation, and build strong partnerships with districts to improve teacher retention, confidence, and effectiveness. The webinar also highlights innovations in induction, feedback loops between preparation programs and early-career teachers, and practical strategies that educator preparation leaders can adapt to better support teachers during their first years in the profession. The resource may be particularly valuable for educator preparation leaders, faculty, and district partners seeking evidence-informed approaches to creating more seamless and sustained support for novice teachers.
