Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Explore SEL Framework Library

February 2026 | Ecological Approaches to Social Emotional Learning (EASEL) Laboratory

This interactive social and emotional learning (SEL) resource library from the Ecological Approaches to Social Emotional Learning Laboratory at the Harvard Graduate School of Education serves to help educational practitioners, leaders, and others organize, describe, and connect major SEL frameworks and skills. SEL can be defined and characterized in a plethora of ways, which can lead to a lack of unity and clarity in regard to understanding, measuring outcomes, and promoting skills. The resource library aims to support a broader and deeper understanding of SEL and to help users select the right SEL framework for their work. The website unpacks the six overarching SEL domains and uses them to explain the focuses of 40 different SEL frameworks. In addition to offering an overview, each framework page outlines the key age range, settings, and purpose. Users can select the right SEL framework for them by comparing the SEL domain focuses to what each framework stresses or by identifying skills of interest within frameworks.
