January 2018 | Bank Street Graduate School of Education & The National Center for Children in Poverty

The Bank Street Graduate School of Education curated a literacy guide to ignite the spark in children to lead them to a lifetime of literacy learning. This literacy guide provides teachers with ways to engage young children in reading, writing, and language experiences that develop their abilities and foster their interests through a developmentally grounded approach. A variety of information can be found in this guide, including background information on literacy and early reading, sample lesson plans, activities, information on other literacy and reading resources, and guidelines on working with young children whose first language is not English.
